Voltage conversion and regulation plays a key part in electronics design. In the past, the supply of power rails was more of an afterthought. But today’s designs are more focused on highly efficient power conversion and control, combined with optimization of costs, solution size, and robustness.

Allegro leverages its proprietary wafer process technologies to provide optimized DC/DC converters typically in the rating ranges of 20 V, 40 V, and 60 V, with integrated switches (rather than controllers or standalone LDOs).

Single output regulators are focused mainly on the buck conversion topology, although some devices are also available in boost or flyback configurations. Automotive and non-automotive devices are available with a variety of package types, most with exposed pad for excellent thermal dissipation.

Multiple output regulators provide two or more outputs from a single input supply. Outputs can be derived from a combination of buck, LDO, boost, or charge pump topologies depending on the application requirements. Automotive and non-automotive devices are available with a variety of package types, most with exposed pad for excellent thermal dissipation.

LCD panels have become extremely pervasive, from mobile phones to navigation, portable DVD players, notebooks, monitors, televisions, and even automotive instrument clusters and driver information systems. These panels need a backlighting source, which in the past was CCFL-based but is now dominated by LED light sources.

Allegro offers a variety of LED drivers for backlighting to match varying application requirements for input voltage range, number of LEDs per string, number of strings, and LED current.

These devices are highly integrated, with comprehensive fault protection and excellent performance. As well as devices targeted for consumer applications, AEC-Q100 qualified devices are available with appropriate automotive voltage and temperature ratings.
