Sustainability and environmental protection principles

We want to achieve economic success through sustainable and environmentally friendly behaviour. The protection and preservation of our natural resources, climate protection and the reduction and avoidance of plastic waste are very important to us.

Our actions are based on acceptance and tolerance as well as compliance with national and international laws and standards. We also comply with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, humanitarian working conditions and anti-discrimination principles.

Our environmental contributions

The matronic has an environmentally friendly combined heat and power plant that supplies electricity as well as the required heat. The combined heat and power system achieves an overall utilisation rate of 105.2%. In addition, energy resources are conserved and CO2 emissions are reduced.

To protect the environment, we largely use reusable cardboard boxes for outgoing goods. The goods delivered at goods inwards are unpacked and the corresponding cartons are collected in pallet cages and prepared for goods outwards. We are well on the way to using only paper as filling material in order to make the dispatch of goods more environmentally friendly.

We do without plastic drinking bottles and aluminium cans, and instead offer our employees and guests drinking water from our environmentally friendly drinking water dispenser, which is used to enrich the mineral-rich regional drinking water with carbon dioxide, as well as freshly ground coffee specialities.
Since the beginning of 2019, matronic has had its own in-house charging station for electric cars. Customers, visitors and our own employees can charge their electric vehicles here. This is our way of promoting future-oriented electromobility.

The University City of Tübingen has set itself the goal of reducing CO² emissions by 25 per cent by 2022 compared to 2014 and becoming climate-neutral by 2030 as a contribution to the Paris Climate Protection Agreement.

We are part of the global movement for climate protection and support the University City of Tübingen in achieving its ambitious climate protection targets within the scope of our own options.

We are registered in the Lucid Packaging Register. Our wholesale company only does B2B business (suppliers) and uses environmentally friendly transport packaging (cardboard boxes). We offer our customers the return of our delivered packaging after prior notification by telephone 07071 / 944494
